Mozambique must not follow Bolivia

Bolivia holds the world's largest deposits of lithium (Li). Whilst the ore does have contaminants the reserves are massive. Yet despite strong prices for Li Bolivia effectively produces zilch. How can this be?

In Sept 2009 French President Nicolas Clouseau visited Bolivian President Evo Morales. His main purpose was to secure a supply of Li for France. But it all fizzled out. Morales insisted that Bolivia would not export Li metal. Instead, he insisted EV's must be built in Bolivia.

Today Bolivia remains trapped in poverty and neighbours Argentina and esp Chile have ramped-up the supply of Li to meet demand. Currently they can cope but ultimately demand for Li ion batteries will exceed supply and perhaps Bolivia will change track.

My hope is Moz govt allow export of enriched (98-98.5%) G and not insist it be processed further. The profits to first producers will be substantial. Sure, take a 5-6% royalty, but timing is the key and the Canadians and others know this.
