One development that hasn’t received much attention is MEM’s equine fertility program using the FELIX system, being conducted with EquiBreedUK Ltd in the UK, alongside academic oversight from the University of Newcastle.

This is not a speculative relationship. EquiBreedUK operates directly in the high-value European equine breeding market, where sperm quality, post-thaw performance and selection efficiency are critical. Poor or compromised samples are common, particularly with frozen semen, making this an ideal use case for FELIX’s active sperm selection process.

Importantly, equine trials are not constrained by the same regulatory timelines as human IVF. There is no CE-Mark-equivalent bottleneck, ethics pathways are simpler, and outcomes are measured directly on performance rather than regulatory milestones. As a result, data generation and validation can occur materially faster than in the human setting.

MEM has previously indicated this is a multi-year program, but that does not mean updates are years away. In animal reproduction, meaningful preliminary results can emerge relatively early, particularly if outcome differentiation is clear. Any positive data here would provide independent, non-human validation of FELIX’s mechanism while also opening a potential commercial pathway that is cash-paying and not reimbursement-dependent.

The timing is also relevant. With CE Mark for human use approaching the back end of its window, the equine program represents parallel progress, not a distraction. Positive updates from EquiBreedUK could land before, alongside, or shortly after CE-related news, reinforcing the broader FELIX story from a different angle
