    Martha Stewart lambasts jail food

Martha Stewart has had a lot of time to think
Martha Stewart, the US lifestyle guru serving a five-month sentence for lying to stock market regulators, has complained about the food in prison.
In an open letter posted on her web site, she says she is fine, but looking forward to going home.

"I have had time to think, time to write, time to exercise, time to not eat the bad food, and time to walk and contemplate the future," she says.

Stewart, who is halfway through her jail term, says she is keeping busy.

She says her main work in jail has been cleaning - "washing, scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, raking leaves, and much more".

And she urges her friends to show sympathy for many of the 1,200 inmates at the prison in Alderson, West Virginia, who have been there for years "devoid of care, devoid of love, devoid of family".

Stewart earned millions from a business empire based on selling domestic items and lifestyle advice.

She is to return to US television screens in late 2005 with a new show for NBC, revolving around her cooking and lifestyle skills.
