manual skills shortage?

First water, now shortage of electricians and other skills needed in the construction industries. At the same time we are still turning out university graduates for which there are few jobs and many go overseas to work. How did this happen when we have a government that is shouting from the rooftops about the size of the surplus. Surpluses are attained by reducing or stopping spending, not by brainchilling decisions. The Howard government has taken its eye off the ball in recent years, not hard when it is led by a geriatric who looks overseas before his own backyard. Perhaps they can use the clapped out US tanks we are buying to blow holes in the ground to collect water. If we are to be stuck with a Liberal government for the next 4 years then the first task is to get rid of Howard and any other backward looking liberals.
