    I'm not sure what you mean by "shares provided back to shareholders by the company". If/when the company receives compensation, that money is the company's in exchange for their lost asset. The value of the company's market cap should then reflect (at the very least) the money it's holding, and its future then depends on what it intends to do with that money in order to grow the company such as buying another mine or prospecting lease.

    I seriously doubt the company would pay a cent to any shareholder. If people are still holding shares and haven't sold out, they'll get their money back when the share price rises and they choose to sell. If they've already sold and are no longer shareholders, tough luck.
