    Libya to investigate Mauritania's allegations
    2004-09-08/ The Assistant Secretary of the Arab Maghreb Union at the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Co-operation has met in Algeria with the Algerian Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Belkhadem, a member of the investigation committee which the Leader of the Revolution, President of Presidential Council of the Arab Maghreb Union, ordered to set up to investigate Mauritania's allegations and claims against Libya.

    The Assistant Secretary conveyed in the meeting a letter to Belkhadem from the Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Co-operation regarding the formation of this committee which includes the Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, al-Habib Bularas, the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Mohammed Bin Issa, and Abdulaziz Belkhadem.

    The Assistant Secretary re-affirmed Libya's insistence on the need to reveal the full truth on this issue, and asked the African Union and the Arab League to form two committees to investigate Mauritania's allegations which has to prove these allegations and claims to these committees. He stressed that Libya would not be delinquent or concede its rights on this issue.
