    I would argue that the typical franchise buyer will be more prone to failure than the typical new business owner.

    The reason - a person typically buys a franchise because they generally lack the business acumen to buy an existing independent business (or start their own). They expect and rationalise that in buying a franchise they will have the safety net of the franchisor to provide training, premises, marketing, etc. etc.

    That's fine in theory, but in practice if you get a franchisor such as RFG that survives by raping the (innocent/ignorant) franchisee then that is a recipe for disaster.

    Sadly, by the time the franchisee comes to realise their dreams of being a successful small business owner will never happen it is too late - they are bankrupt.
