kicking the r/e can again

Up here in the North homes are normally sold by listing at a price and listening to offers, not at auction. That must be about to change. Homes are now selling at full listed price within days. The "I can't afford to miss this time" attitude is clearly evident.
My bros in-law, shopping for an out of town sister, were told not to bother trying to find a house and then get her to come and check: It won't last! Last Friday they found a nice one but the agent would not accept their offer until after the weekend and the "open house". Today they signed at above the list after a dutch auction.
I hope she's doing the right thing, but I wasn't asked for an opinion. The bubble still has a way to go here!
