The usual suspects have got it wrong again with spreading misleading quotations.
The actual “readout” is
“The Secretary also congratulated the Minister on Argentina’s recent, successful negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, as well as the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. Secretary Bessent emphasized the Trump Administration’s commitment to solidifying its position as Argentina’s partner of choice.”
So It’s actually Argentina wanting to be the U.S. preferred partner not the other way around.
And it was from Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent’s meeting with Minister of Economy Luis Caputo of Argentina not Trump meeting with Milei as the picture tries to imply.
