Blind Freddy can see that the inquiry needed for Australia’s future isn’t about guns or our security force. The difficult question is whether Islam is compatible with our culture and values and if not should we stop importing Muslims?
This is the obvious question but we are avoiding it because we respect freedom of “religion”. Indeed how one wants to relate to God, Gods , Deities or ancestors should be purely a matter for them.
But Islam is more, the Koran and Hadiths lay out a legal system, military doctrine and strategy for world domination. Should all of these be beyond judgement because they are wrapped in with a religion?
Most religions counsel their followers to live in harmony with their fellow citizens of other faiths. Should we tolerate a belief system which calls on its followers to tax and kill those of other faiths. Is our tolerance of intolerance suicidal naivity?
(Before apologists for the ALP’s embrace of Islam consider their rebuttals. The Old Testament is common to Jews,Christians and Muslims)
