Its rather the opposite. The battery thrives in temperatures up to 50C (fluid operating temperature) and self-protects above that level if it can't use ambient temperature to hold the fluid temp below that level. It takes a fair while for the fluid temp to move (high thermal mass - this is a good thing).
By contrast lead acid battery lifetime drops substantially as a function of increases in ambient temperature.
There's a conversation about the low temperature limit that was covered in another thread. Long story short, the battery, once operating, can keep itself warm, and in rare cases where you expect to have to boot it up after extended periods 'off' below 10C a cabinet heater is routine and low cost addition in a typical telco environment. But we've had batteries running on top of a mountaintop in New Zealand for some time now - perfectly happily (un-heated cabinet).
