What did we think of Ian's ideas on refugees?

I was waiting for his solutions - a bit light on there I thought. He seemed to suggest that anybody who made it to Australia by boat was brave and likely to make a good citizen. Whilst that is probably a reasonable assumption (but no more than that) it hardly makes a basis for a refugee policy.

I'm surprised that the program didn't allow him to outline his alternatives - I'm sure he hasn't gone this far without defining some, having met with all of the major political players.
