Holista CollTech’s CEO Dr Rajen Manicka had a chat with The Star (Malaysia) about the company’s proprietary low-glycemic index (low-GI) noodle formula. Endorsed by Diabetes Canada and the Glycemic Index Foundation, the organic formula is a major innovation for noodles, a diet staple which accounts for around 50% of global wheat consumption.
Dr Rajen expects Holista to be profitable this year, with its food segment poised to be a key growth driver in future. Holista has already secured an order from Canada-based Wing’s Food Products and recently inked a separate agreement to export its low-GI noodles to China – the world’s largest noodle market – where the increasingly affluent population is seeking healthy imported products.
Holista plans to launch low-GI bread products by end-2018 and is currently working out a partnership with an India-based company to develop healthy baked goods. Dr Rajen is also considering fund-raising exercises to finance Holista’s research and development in the coming months.
