@Sweetsound I remember 'old' people saying this in my native country - and they had been through 2 World Wars!!!
Seems we equate our appreciation of 'the world' with our very own growth, flowering and decline?
I look at world politics now with a sense of amazement, sometimes sadness (when seeing what's going on on Ghaza) but mostly appreciation that I live n the middle of very exciting and deeply changeable times, which will need a lot of adaptation by this and the following generations.
P,S. I watched a certain music program last night, and was impressed with the Swiss organisational abilities, their presentation of themselves, the two professional presenters (I have been to Switzerland quite a few times) - and the amazing acrobatics, singing abilities (or lack) and picked 'the winner, I think (Sweden) - loved a beautiful love song sung by a young and black Dutchman, sung partly in French - and a lot of the underlying Angst about life on earth, as well as references to Mothers - which is new - I only ever remember one song about a Father (Oh mein Papa) - so the young generation is softer; Western masculinity is changing - for the better, i think - at least as heard by the songs put forth last night.

BTW: I havent watched Eurovision in years - yesterday happened accidentally, but I am happy about this lucky accident.
    Go well
    Tau
