The basic issue is that as a democracy we should know and appreciate our past.
Unfortunately not much history is taught in schools and few kids have heard of Lawson let alone try to understand thr mindset of colonisers s couple of centuries ago.
It is clear current governments are doing a lot for aboriginals even though many here think they are getting it too easy.
I agree some take advantage of generous allowances for aboriginals but I don't carp about it here.
Posters are carrying on about 1000 cattle that died on a farm run by aboriginals
Meanwhile many thousands of animal have perished in drought affected areas that have been degraded when white pastoralists overstocked their lands.
People here make a big deal of 1000 cattle dying on the aboriginal station--meanwhile millions of native animals are killed by feral animals brought in by whites every year.
No one can be expected to be right all the time but the damage caused by whites mistakes make the loss of 1000 cattle look like a drop of water in the ocean.
No need to highlight alcoholism or violence etc that applies to all people and races here.
A little less hypocrisy and a bit more accurate history and storytelling is in order.
