"Sky City, up 39%, could be a buyer

New Zealand casino group Sky City Entertainment is still on the lookout for potential takeover targets in Australia.

More than two years after adding Adelaide to its stable of casinos, Sky City managing director Evan Davies was coy about the expansion plans.

"We have got significant growth opportunities within our current asset base and we think we can continue to grow the business for several years to come, so there is no pressure," Mr Davies said, as he reported a 39 per cent increase in net profit for the December half to $NZ52.8 million ($49.31 million).

Mr Davies said Sky City, which owns casinos in Auckland, Queenstown and Hamilton as well as Adelaide and a 33 per cent stake in Internet sports betting group Canbet, would like to buy a second casino in Australia but it would have to be "the right opportunity and right price".

"There is nothing being specifically looked at," he said."
