The report says that solar capacity will surge to 668.4 GW in 2015 from 93.7 GW in 2012, with most of the gains in the concentrated solar market (CSP).
Wind will increase from 279 GW to 814 GW over the same period, with small scale wind turbines helping drive the increase.
While Europe would continue to be the renewable leader, South-East Asia, Kenya, Turkey and Iceland would also add significant new capacity.
Researcher Harald Thaler forecast that beyond 2015, marine power technology would be “widely deployed as government willingness to back emerging technologies increases.”
