First of all I would like to thank many great posters on here who provide good information
    about all types of funds.

I am way behind the 8-ball in this regard and need to catch up.
Have always just stuck with high risk stocks but may be coming to a point where my capital is of a sufficient
value that it could grow at a reasonable rate in some type of fund.

What are the best sources for me to get to speed about the various advantages and
disadvantages between listed/non listed funds, LIC'S and whatever else is out there to allow me to
make an inform decision or at least be more informed about the topic before I seek further advice
    for my specific situation?

Is it a flawed strategy to wait until the markets sh*its itself and load up on certain types of funds
for supercharged returns in a short period of time with little risk?

Is it common in this industry for funds to pack it in and start a new fund after a downturn hiding the true return of the fund and should funs like this be avoided? It seems many funds have come online post-GFC 2009 onwards and are highlighting how good their returns are in this 1/3/5 year period when really a monkey could have had a good a chance of getting those returns and without the fees involved over that fairly bullish period?
