As for the idea that a person would want to buy an ICE vehicle instead of an EV for a higher price if they both suit the person’s needs?
    Perhaps some will?
If you forget about what powers the vehicle and consider what people have bought for the last 100 odd years, you will find that many people buy inappropriate vehicles for many stupid reasons.

Who needs a 911 to go to the shops to buy milk?

The one size fits all approach is just simple thinking as is the idea that the EV revolution will wipe ICE vehicles off the planet in 2-4.

The percentages should pick up over time and if I was going to guess how quick the transition to an Australia with more than 75% EV’s on our roads?
I would pluck a tentative 20-30 years unless the government goes mad with taxation disincentives.

As for the vehicle makers, Yep some will turn turtle others will step up but, that’s been happening for centuries.
Businesses come and go, some morph while others just die.
