I can see that you struggle with analogy. And inductive reasoning.
I won't use those anymore with you. However, I will explain to you why you are misinformed.
You obviously need to be taught some Australian lessons, rather than spouting US rhetoric.

SO, the rest of the explanation follows - compulsory voting is a protection built into our democracy to protect us ( And our democratic freedoms) from the manipulation of the rich and the powerful. Not only can everyone vote, but everyone has to vote.
What does that mean? Our government has its hands tied to listen to everyone.

Therefore, political groups have to take into account EVERYONE, not just the rich and powerful, when going to make laws, policies and so on. Also, if we make it compulsory, then it follows that our governments have to make it as easy as possible to vote, otherwise they force us to break the law.

So we couldn't put voting on a Tuesday - that would make it hard for people who work. ( Ooops - America did that..)

Also, we couldn't have limited polling places, we need to have them within places people often can get to. Having 1 place per suburb is not enough. (Ooops - America did that too)

Those are just two ways we outperform America for example, BECAUSE we made it compulsory. This forces the government to supply all the personnel, and equipment to ensure we, the people, can vote, even if we are in Arnhem Land.

The compulsory part protects your democratic right, and FORCES the government to help you vote.
It is a key part of making the democracy work, because it protects you from the government.

Are you better informed now, and will you stop spouting ill-informed crap about it being anti-democratic?
I doubt it, because you have zero insight or ability to admit you learned something. You have eaten a 3 second slogan from some anti-democratic rights speaker, and done zero further thinking about

" Wonder why we agreed to a law making it compulsory..?"
