    Nazif to meet foreign delegations on promoting investments

    Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif will hold a series of meetings with senior foreign officials next week, in a new bid to lure more investments to the country. He will review with Norway's Prime Minister Kjell-Magne Bondevik on Saturday boosting bilateral economic relations. On Sunday, Nazif will inaugurate a conference on Chinese investments in Egypt, particularly in the area of northwest Suez. Nazif will meet also with president of the World Bank for talks on executive steps to boost cooperation in financial and technical domains. The prime minister will also meet next week with the chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce, the secretary of the Chinese communist party and the World Bank president.

    Nazif to open investment conference between Egypt, Chinese province

    Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and the secretary general of the Chinese Communist Party committee for Guangdong province are to open Sunday a conference on investment and trade between Egypt and the Chinese province.

    The conference, organized by the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the foreign trade and economic cooperation department of the Guangdong Province, will be attended by ministers of investment, foreign trade and international cooperation along with GAFI chairman, senior officials of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese ambassador to Egypt.

    The Chinese official is due to arrive in Cairo Saturday on a five-day official visit to Egypt upon an invitation from the National Democratic Party (NDP), leading a top-level business delegation.

    The Chinese official will hold talks with NDP Secretary General Safwat El-Sherif, NDP deputy chairman Youssef Wali and Gamal Mubarak, the NDP policies committee Secretary on issues of mutual concern.

    Rasheed: Egypt's investment image improving in Europe

    Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohammed Rasheed said Egypt's investment image to European businessmen is improving especially following the recent decisions taken by the government.

    The Minister, who is currently visiting Italy to attend meetings of the Euro-Mediterranean industry ministers, said the Dutch and Italian industry ministers will visit Egypt soon for talks on drawing up cooperation programs, adding Egyptian exporters and manufacturers delegation will visit the two countries to probe cooperation vistas before the expected visit of the two ministers.

    The Minster indicated that the present government's basic target is increasing volume of exports whether agricultural or industrial in a way that will provide job opportunities. "In this respect several effective measures were taken including a reduction in lands prices and facilitating officials procedures", he added.
