    from ABC Online;

    A County Court judge has described the actions of a 71-year-old Melbourne woman who attacked her 78-year-old neighbour with a tomahawk last October as reprehensible.

    Sonia Baker and her neighbour Joyce Anthony had been feuding since Mrs Anthony moved into the aged care unit in Hampton East two-and-a-half years before the attack.

    What began as an irritation caused by Mrs Anthony walking across Baker's lawn and parking her car too close to the defendant's unit culminated in a premeditated axe attack, which required Mrs Anthony to undergo surgery.

    The court heard Baker had a series of prior convictions dating back to 1947.

    Since the attack, Baker has been moved to an aged care unit in Oakleigh.

    Judge Jan Pannam sentenced Baker to 18 months jail, suspended for two years.
