bacci,
We did exactly the same. I lived in house for two years with no floors coverings, blinds, driveway, or landscaping. We had one car and fish and chips once a week was a real treat. We hooked in, paid it off in six years and then moved interstate. I have never borrowed money again and am now starting to reap the benefits of being disciplined as a youngster.
I now buy a coffee twice a week, but still take my own lunch to work and drive a 18 year old car, although my wife has a new car.
We now manage to have two nice holidays a year and we are well on our way to being self funded retirees when we stop work in another 20 years.
