Looking forward to seeing the Dalai Lama on Thursday.
We have a Buddhist Monastery down the hill in Eudlo and they have invited the locals to have a look at their sacred gardens as well as attend the afternoon discussion. Feel quite priviliged to be going. Am thinking the sacred gardens will be zen-like and restrained. Raked stones don't do alot for personally. Not at all into statues of buddha either, though, and have wondered for a long time why a lot of mainstream Australian gardeners and designers feel the need to pepper their gardens and homes with a plethora of buddhas and tatty peace flags. I don't think tranquility or inner harmony, peace or happiness can be bought on special at Target or Bunnings. Not many shortcuts to what is essentially a journey to find our spiritual comfort zones. Will let you know how it goes.
