Scientific skepticism is healthy. Scientists should always challenge themselves to improve their understanding. Yet this isn't what happens with climate change denial. When we say 'climate change' that term means 'man made and man induced global warming / climate change caused by human activity on the planet', So skeptics need not play on the words here.
These skeptics vigorously criticise any evidence that supports man-made global warming and yet embrace any argument, op-ed, blog or study that purports to refute global warming. Do their arguments have any scientific basis? None what soever it seems. What does the peer reviewed scientific literature say? there is virtually none unless it is from the same skeptic camp.
Religious bodies prefer to believe only God has the power changing the earths climate while the fossil fuel industry vigorously attacks climate science simply because it feels it has to in order to continue making profits for its shareholders.
In essence, the deniers are made up of those who lean towards false religious beliefs and / or beliefs formed to side with the fossil fuel economy whether it be oil, coal or simply a love of big polluting industries because they are sustained by them such as employing them, or their family members etc. Simple inquiries have proven to show almost all climate deniers have a link to the above and what the climate deniers won't admit to you on this forum or anywhere else, (as it disempowers them and exposes them for the one), as they fit the above categories.
The climate deniers are working hard to silence the facts. They are after all funded also by multi billion dollar fossil fuel companies. In the USA, the Climate Science Legal Defense Fund was established to make sure that legal actions are not viewed as an attack against one scientist or institution, but as attacks against the scientific endeavor as a whole. As well. the CSLDF protects individual scientists facing unfair legal attacks by organized groups. Given the current climate - pun most definitely intended - in the U.S. the CSLDF's work is unfortunately becoming ever more important as fossil fule interests desperately seek to turn the tide against them as renewable energy and EV is clearly going to overtake the industry although this will take a long time, but it is gathering pace and the fossil fuel interests do feel threatened.
