Is there a reason then why all listed investment companies report total returns using both "NTA" and share price?

Total returns using NTA are often referred to as "Portfolio Performance" whereas total returns using the share price is referred to as Shareholder Performance.

You can look at any LIC site... AFIC, Argo, Milton etc... they all report total returns using NTA firstly and Share price secondly.

So how can you say it has nothing to do with NTA? When every LIC utilises it as a measure of total return.
