    I don't have an opinion on if the person is guilty or not.

    Our system is the presumption of innocence until proven guilty or at least without reasonable doubt but that is not to say the verdict is the correct one.

    Innocent people get convicted and guilty people get acquitted, the justice system gets it wrong some times.

    Same thing happens with appeals, some one that has been convicted will appeal if they think they have a changes of getting the conviction quashed regardless of if they are actually guilty or not.
