I am trying to think of an example where trading isn’t a zero sum game. About the only example I can think of is where the extra liquidity attracts investors who would have avoided the stock if the liquidity was lower. There are a few stocks where I like the business, but they are so illiquid that it is impossible to invest in them. Some trader activity would be welcome in these stocks. Of course in practice traders avoid these stocks even more than investors, so this is only a theoretical example.
I don’t object to traders and trading, I just don’t think it is good when they come to dominate a sector. Like most things a balance is best.
