    BRIAN HARRADINE: The aim of reform should be to improve the decision making process and the accountability of Parliament, not to force the passage of all government legislation.

    ANDREW BARTLETT: There is absolutely no doubt that these proposals, and particularly option one, dramatically weakens the effective power of the Senate and massively increases the ability and the power of the Prime Minister to do whatever they want and that is something that the Australian people will never support.
