16 December 2002:
Comic-book Market v. Stocks:Superman to the Rescue
From Barron’s: “For example, Fishler notes that a near-mint issue of the 1938 debut appearance of ‘Superman in ActionComics #1' is currently valued at about $350,000, implying what he says is a 20-year compound annual growth rate of more than 17% for that title, which is rated the most valuable. That compares with a compound annual growth rate of 13% for the S&P 500, adjusted for reinvested dividends in the period.”
