Hi songokou,
Since once again you took the time to “educate” posters on this forum I thought that I would take the time to respond to your post, and to give my perspective on the points that you have raised and to point out how they relate to me as I fall into most of the points below
1) thinking of a salesperson the first thing that comes to mind is presentation. Sales folk are normally dressed in good quality clothes to create an impression of trust. So, it is no different to social posters. Like our well dressed salesman they tend to write with good grammer, few or no spelling mistakes and good prose. Like our salesmen that like to maintain an image so they seldom resort to Aussie slang or colloquiasims. They present well.
I disagree with this assertion as how a person responds [grammar] could be an indication of the schooling that they were fortunate to receive and more importantly could be an indication of their age as most “older” members fortunately can present well when replying.
2) They generally avoid arguements with other posters. They have a higher motive and arguing with others serves no purpose.
Again I disagree with this assertion, when I first started to post on Hotcopper I started to debate with another poster who unfortunately was very “emotional” in some of their posts and what I found was that other posters began to “flame & bait” this poster and I quickly learnt that this was nothing more than “cyber bullying” so from that point on I decided that I wouldn’t participate in this pointless debating. How we present ourselves on any Social Media reflects who we are and more importantly what we are. What I always try to do now is present an argument based on facts and relevant information and also IMO, as for a higher motive I have none.
3) They tend to answer questions put to them in a courteous manner...........a highly unusual trait for most posters. It's a give-away.
Again I disagree – refer above comment [answer 1&2]
4) They tend to only post on a few companies and avoid other threads. They have purpose, so talking politics or general chat is nothing but a diversion to their goals. 5) They generally are very knowledgable on their topic and for an observant person they raise the 'feeling' of "Why is this stranger giving me so much infomation for free?"
Again I have to disagree here as I mainly post on one forum as it is a company that I am extremely interested in and the technology that they are developing, as for BUD I am also a holder but rarely post as others are more knowledgeable than me on this subject. Posters can become very emotional about a particular stock but this doesn’t mean that they have an ulterior motive does it? The same could be said of posters who continuously post on a forum in which they hold no stock with the “motive” of trying to save the forum from themselves and a bad investment…..why spend time posting on a stock that you have no “real” interest in…..
6) they tend to just post on a particular company during the price appreciation and distrubution stages of the price cycle................leaving the conversation as the price collapses.
This I do agree with as you see it so many times, recently on GSW & BIG
7) They are always supportive of a positive post and try to add to it, along with a general goodwill feeling to their posts.
Again I have to disagree with this, every poster has a right to “TU” a post if they feel that it has merit and responds accordingly and this shouldn’t be taken as having an ulterior motive
These are just a few of the traits that help me to stay alert in reading social media. It's not conclusive and only acts as a warning, but I think if you come across a poster displayin g at least 3 or 4 of these traits it may pay to be extra vigilant.
This last comment I found to be the most laughable of all as I have been categorized without even knowing the first thing about me, why I post but because I tick most of the points from 1-7 I must have an ulterior motive.
Wrong, I don’t try to influence other posters, with the stocks that I currently hold I haven’t sold a single share and would be considered “long” as I believe in the companies, do not work in the financial industry but understand what Hotcopper is all about, and the motives of some posters.
Generally I wouldn’t comment on this type of post but to re-post you obviously agree with what was stated and to me that says it all.

Hi mate,
Pls reread the post carefully- it was a copy & paste- from another poster. Its meant to be read with a bit of dark humour & abit of a laugh being the result. Except for the promoter I guess? Lol!
If you did read it carefully, you might agree, as do I from just your single post here, by you taking effort to respond, speaking personally, that you already failed the "higher motive" part. By definition, if you were, you would hv ignored this post & simply drummed out another very structured BUD ramp, agree? Not sure why you adamantly imply the post was about you..... who's categorising 'you'? Nobody but yourself, it would appear.
