I think you may also find that to actually purchase real grass in Bali is a hit and miss affair.
You get the fake grass being offered to tourists with ease on every street corner when the sun goes down.
If you were in the "fortunate" position of being able to purchase let's say half Aussie price Sumatran tripping grass from the locals you would " logically" eagerly jump at the chance of buying grass from an Indonesian National you met 2 minutes ago in a Kuta bar.
As he is a seller with a friengly demeanour it would seem illogical that he could be a Policeman under cover or a lagger who will drop you into the Police for a little baksheesh from the local constabulary.
Why do people go to a Casino or TAB week in week out knowing full well that they are going to lose their shirt in all probability, it seems illogical but it is an entrenched behaviour.
