"Other countries will look at one of the most carbon polluting economies on the planet that has made one huge stride forward towards putting a price on carbon," said John Connor, chief executive of The Climate Institute."

the guy who said this is a lying demagogue.

1.32% of global co2 emissions does not make Australia "one of the most carbon polluting economies on the planet"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions

What about China (18% of global emissions and growing) and the US (23% of global emissions and growing)

In spite of this tax Australia will continue to grow CO2 emissions from our tiny 1.32% base - miniscule growth even with our big mining industry

The US and China on the other hand will continue to grow their emissions from the current level of 41% of global emissions...

Who are the "most carbon polluting nations" again and how big is their tax?

That's right - over 40% of CO2 comes from two nations on earth and they have no tax on carbon dioxide...

yet Australia leads... and "does the right thing"

What a joke - are supporters of this tax retarded...??

Australia has possibly the DUMBEST political leadership on earth
