Auctions a disgrace

Adelaide auction system is a bloody disgrace.Probably the same interstate. Here the agents dont give a damm about price but as one agent said "the main reason we use the auction system is to condition the vendor into taking less" As a golfing mate told me he was taken into the house after successfully bidding to be asked by the agent "you would have gone higher wouldnt you?"To which he replied I would have gone well over $100.000 higher,to which this so called agent said "I know that but lets not say anything".If you know how to bid at an auction partic.if like in Adelaide you dont always get a lot of competion ,you can quite often get a bargain. It always amuses me to see the agent refering the bid to the poor vendor who because of the pressure they are under cant make a rational decision, then come out proudly to say the property is on the market, havent they heard of negotiating after.Have you noticed how important these agents think they are driving expensive cars struting around as though they are someone important? The truth be known the majority are unemployable outside real estate. The easiest way to clean up the industry would be to legislate that the agent is responsible for all advertising. This would stop the practise of over pricing to list the house, would stop the big unnecessary advertising that promotes themselves more than the clients house.A.large Adelaide agent was found guilty last week of overcharging by 20%.
