    Hospital gives Cheney 'all clear'

United States Vice-President Dick Cheney, who has a history of serious heart trouble, has been released from a Washington hospital after experiencing shortness of breath and undergoing tests.

US media reports say Mr Cheney left the George Washington University Hospital after the tests came back normal and there was no sign of heart trouble.

White House spokesman Ken Lisaius says Mr Cheney experienced shortness of breath and checked himself into the hospital "on the recommendation of his doctors".

"He's had a bad cold, which could well be the cause for this shortness of breath," he said.

But Mr Lisaius said Mr Cheney was "taking every precaution" and had his symptoms checked out.

Mr Cheney, 63, underwent angioplasty in November 2000 after suffering his fourth heart attack since 1978.

He had a cardioverter defibrillator implanted in June 2001 after he was treated for cardiac troubles after entering office with US President George W Bush in January 2001.
