Afternoon trading May 20

Afternoon traders. Time for the ASX arvo session where volume disappears, spreads widen and suddenly every trader becomes a long-term investor against their own will.

ASX has actually held up reasonably well so far today considering the weak lead we had coming into the session. Plenty of early volatility and a few names got absolutely smacked, but overall, the market seems to have stabilized a bit as the day’s gone on with buyers still stepping into selective areas. Energy names held up fairly well again thanks to elevated oil prices while traders continue juggling geopolitical headlines, inflation fears and bond yields all at once.
