Australia has many problems today and the free trade agreements are one such problem.
Free trade is not free trade.
Australians have been sucked into free trade agreements with other countries where everybody can export their manufactured crap to Australia but its not a two way street.
There are many examples of this and one of the best examples is wine.
Australia produces some of the best wine in the world and at very affordable prices.
Just go to places like Thailand and check out the price of a bottle of Aussie wine in Thailand.
    YES........The import duty is zero.
“For wine from Australia and even Chile, the import duty is zero, and wine from these regions now have a price perception advantage over locally made wines.”
    REALLY!!!!
However Thailand gets around the free trade agreement by introducing an excise tax, municipal tax and a health tax. The result is a 400% ++ increase on the original cost of a bottle of wine.
A $6 bottle of wine in Australia will cost as much as $40 in Thailand.

Whilst there isn't any import tax, Thailand and many other Asian countries get around this with another method of taxation.
