    Project Renault-Dacia X90 (2004)

    The X90 is the main project of Renault and Dacia for the entrance
    from this mark to the emergent markets.

    The main characteristics of this project are in the cost that must
    have the car, because it will have to be available from 5000 euros,
    and will have to be to the height of the most modern and present
    automobiles of the world-wide market, in the matter of design and
    accessories. According to it is known, it will be constructed on the
    platform of the Renault Mégane II and will have 4 variants
    available: 4 doors, break, 5 doors and Pick-Up.

    variants will include a motor of 1,600 cs. c., 8 valves, multipoint

    developed in the Tecnocentro de Renault in Guyancourt, France, and
    it is had glided to present/display it to the press in June of 2004,
    and to initiate his commercialization in Rumania, Russia and other
    countries of Europe Oriental and Africa of the North, the 15 of
    September of 2004.

    In Rumania, publication of photos spies of X90 Sedan (to the left)
    has caused much commotion, because it has revealed which the
    external appearance of this automobile is very similar to of the
    Volkswagen Bora, known in Colombia like "Jetta". As it can be seen,
    between the 1310 and X90 there are a very long stretch, and many
    million euros of by means, in favor of the progress and the
    technology, with which Dacia progresses of the hand of the Renault
    Group.

    Surely, this one will be one of the next models of Renault in
    Colombia and it knows that if is obtained the integration of the
    autopartistas and the Colombian automotive industry (Sofasa, in this
    case), the X90 could be made in 2005 in the plant of Sofasa in
    Envigado, from where it would be exported to countries like Mexico,
    Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Bolivia.

    From The 2003 Concise Financial Report:

    A recently completed extensive development and application program
    by

    Orbital for a European customer has confirmed that the Orbital direct

    injection technology when applied to optimised designs of 4-stroke

    engines continues to deliver benefits ahead of competing

    technologies.

    This customer program involved designing a new 2-valve, 4-cylinder

    variant of an existing production engine featuring the close

    integration of Orbital's direct fuel injection technology in the

    preferred configuration of a centralised injector. In

    addition to the design and analysis of the new cylinder

    head and ancillary systems, Orbital was responsible for

    all engine test and development activities including

    engine dynamometer development of emissions and full

    load performance, verification of operation and vehicle

    chassis dynamometer calibration of emissions,

    drivability and catalyst system development. The

    resulting demonstrator vehicle delivered a fuel economy

    improvement over the standard production vehicle of

    approximately 17% using the European drive cycle

    together with emissions below Euro 4 levels.

    Orbital continues to work with a number of automotive

    customers on programs which, if successful, could lead

    to future serial production.
