Voxson focuses on GSM technology, Taiwan customer gets FTA
    BRISBANE, May 28 AAP|Published: Tuesday May 28, 12:19 PM

Digital wireless company Voxson Ltd said it remained focused on the development and sale of technology related to the global systems for mobiles (GSM).

"Development and full type approval (FTA) of the new GSM/GPRS module is on schedule for mid 2002 as previously advised," the company said.

"Voxson is increasingly focused on the development and sale of GSM/GPRS modular engines. Derivative products, customisation and system integration of the new module are being offered as value added services," it said.

Voxson shares had lifted by more than four per cent or 0.5 pf a cent to 12.5 cents mid-session at 1205 AEST.

Today Voxson announced one of its customers, the Taiwan-listed company Solomon Technology Group, had obtained full type approval for its mobile handset.

The first commercial delivery of 3,000 modules will be delivered later this month.

The deal is to supply 100,000 mobile modules during 2002.

Voxson also announced the signing of a new contract with C-Top Electronics for the supply of 10,000 modules by the end of July, following the successful integration of the GSM modular engine into its wireless desktop phone product.

C-Top Electronics is one of the leading manufacturers of wireless desktop handsets in China.

Meanwhile, Voxson said ChinaLink, who is paying it to help it bring Chinalink's handset into commercial production, are expected to take the handset for FTA in the next few weeks.

Chinalink is contracted to purchase 65,000 modular engines from Voxson, and has produced a sample GSM handset incorporating Voxson's GSM modular engine for customer evaluation, FTA and other trials.

It had planned for production to start in April.

"As a result of the delay in bringing handsets into production they have now revised their forecast delivery date, which would suggest completion of this contract would not be achieved until later this calendar year," Voxson said today.

I think it is a buy, long term.
