ASX Market Open: New highs on Friday menu after Wall Street record-setting | July 11

11 Jul 2025 08:39 (AEST)

Australian shares are following U.S. trends into Friday trade, with ASX 200 futures now pointing to a +0.4% gain this morning as Wall Street’s major bourses ticked over all-time highs – and don’t look like slowing, either.

The benchmark S&P 500 was +0.3% higher at close, touching its 6,290-point high during the session. Similarly, the Nvidia-led Nasdaq closed 19 points stronger.

Nvidia’s rise seems to be the tide lifting all U.S. stocks, with the mega-sized chip maker finally getting its $4 trillion (A$6tn) market cap close on Thursday. Shares even touched $164.42 intraday, but pulled back a little by the bell.

(Hilariously, Trump has since taken credit for Nvidia’s surge on social media.)

Bitcoin has had a bumper Week 28, too; the crypto giant is above US$113K today.

Back home, Nanoveu Limited (ASX:NVU) has banked another $2 million cash from high net worth investors to complete the tape-out of its next flagship chip design and roll out the EMASS modular AloT development kit.

Li-S Energy (ASX:LIS) has caught early attention on the HotCopper forums this morning. The battery developer says it has successfully produced Australia’s first lithium metal foils through its work in Geelong.

We’ll be watching StepChange Holdings (ASX:STH) today, too. The software debutant barely moved the dial yesterday and closed flat at its 20c offering price.
