The move marks the first time Battery Age has spearheaded its germanium and gallium focus into the States. Apex, which lies on the eastern flank of the Beaver Dam Mountains, shaped as a perfect foothold considering it’s one of the only known high-grade germanium-gallium systems in the country.
Battery Age’s newly staked tenure has been designed to capture the key structural and stratigraphic features in the Apex Fault Zone, which hosts mineralisation in the brecciated and dolomitised Callvile Limestone.
“The Apex staking marks an important milestone for Battery Age as we expand our germanium-gallium portfolio,” said BM8 chief Nigel Broomham.
“The adjacent Apex Mine is the only deposit of its kind in the country,” Mr Broomham continued, “historically producing copper, lead, and silver before revealing exceptional germanium and gallium enrichments in the 1980s.
“We have secured the prospective ground containing the key controls.”
Battery Age has already split the tenure into north and south blocks by mineralisation.
These structured stakings will be the core workpath for the Aussie company as it investigates the area’s key corridors and stratigraphic horizons.
The explorer also wields the Bleiberg project in Australia; between the two, Battery Age is inching closer and closer to an “essential role” in the semiconductor, fibre optics, and defence technology supply chains.
All this comes at the same time as a key deal with the University of Sydney’s School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. That collaboration also helps swell supply chain relevancy, with the now-linked parties to work together on testing advanced germanium recovery and recycling methods.
BM8 headed into Friday at 15.5cps. The company’s currently halted.
