Pure Hydrogen to supply hydrogen-fuelled garbage truck to City of Newcastle

Pure Hydrogen (ASX:PH2) has announced its receipt of a 12 month contract from the City of Newcastle (CoN) to provide a hydrogen fuelled garbage truck, assembled by its subsidiary Hdrive International.

The first twelve months will be conducted as a trial with an option for a 4Y extension. This is the fifth such truck to be supplied by PH2 to third parties.

Bucher Municipal will also help supply and fit the body of the hydrogen garbo. The CoN has moved to acquire the asset as part of its overhead net zero strategy.

“Over the coming four years City of Newcastle is expected to replace a significant number of its existing diesel powered green and red lid bin trucks as part of the routine renewal of the fleet,” the company wrote on Thursday.

“The City will lease the truck through a finance company with the option to return to Pure after 12 months.”

The company also pointed to an existing pipeline of sales as well as interest from other parties in Australia.

“Through partnerships with leading Australian waste management companies and city councils in multiple states, this lease marks the Company’s fifth order for HFC waste collection vehicles in Australia, alongside advanced trials for a hydrogen-powered Prime Mover,” Pure Hydrogen MD Scott Brown said.

“We are pleased to announce the latest hydrogen truck leasing agreement and we commend the City of Newcastle for taking this step.”
