West Zone Hole Confirms High Grade Graphite Continuity

ASX Announcement 25 November 2019

Comet Resources Ltd (Comet or the Company) (ASX:CRL) is pleased to announce further results from recent diamond drilling conducted at its Springdale Graphite Project in southern West Australia.

Highlights

  • Drill hole HD031 intersected 10.9m @ 10.61% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC) from 25m, including 6m @ 17.57% TGC from 26m
  • Wireframe infill confirms excellent high-grade continuity of graphite mineralisation in the West Zone, 40m north of previous intersections
  • Drill core to provide sample for West Zone metallurgical test work

Figure 1. Schematic cross section looking north-northwest showing consistent high-grade graphite in HD031 projected onto previous drilled and interpreted section 6246380N, 40m south of new hole.

Comet Resources Managing Director, Matthew O’Kane, commented:

“The results from HD031 confirmed the resource model’s interpreted expectation of continued high-grade graphite in the West Zone of the mineralised area, about 40m north of prior highgrade drilling results from 2016 and 2017, which gives Comet increased confidence in its resource model. Material from HD031 is undergoing metallurgical test work at Nagrom as part of our most extensive metallurgical test program to date. We look forward to providing those results, along with results from the balance of the drilling assays, in the near future ” .

Appointment of Experienced Team for Metallurgical Testwork

ASX Announcement 10 October 2019

Comet Resources Ltd (Comet or the Company) (ASX:CRL) is pleased to announce that it has engaged a highly experienced team to undertake the analytical and metallurgical testwork for the high-grade Springdale Graphite Project in southern West Australia. Dr Evan Kirby will design and manage all testwork programs, which will be conducted by Nagrom.

Highlights

  • Highlights experienced team with significant graphite-specific experience
  • Ability to leverage experience to deliver value to Comet

Dr Evan Kirby BSc (hons) Metallurgy, PhD, Fellow SAIMM - consulting metallurgist

Dr Kirby is a metallurgist with over 40 years’ experience in the mining sector. He spent 16 years working for South African companies, Impala Platinum, Rand Mines and Rustenburg Platinum Mines. During this time, he worked in operations management, process development, plant expansions and new projects. Then in Australia, over a period of ten years with Minproc Engineers and Bechtel Corporation, he held technical and management roles in numerous studies and projects. This work covered a wide variety of metals & minerals and included many world-leading developments. In 2002, he established his own consulting business. Dr Kirby clearly understands the relationships between geology, mining, metallurgy, and production that drive technical and financial success. He has worked as a director of Mining companies listed on the ASX and AIM.

Nagrom laboratory will perform analytical and metallurgical testwork

Nagrom is a Western Australian company that has provided metallurgical services to the mining industry for over 30 years. Nagrom have undertaken classification, characterisation and floatation testwork for over 13 graphite projects located in Australia and internationally. They have enhanced techniques to improve flake retention, maximise recoveries and simplify processing

Comet Resources CEO, Philippa Leggat, commented:

“We recognise the significant role that metallurgical testwork plays in defining the value of a graphite project, making it critical that we attracted first-rate team to assist us. There are very few consultants with strong graphite experience, and we’re delighted to have secured the assistance of such an experienced team to add value to key elements of the Springdale project.

“Dr. Evan Kirby and Rain Lewis from Nagrom have the expertise to ensure that sample preparation and comminution are handled in a manner which achieves the best possible retention of coarse graphite flakes while delivering strong recoveries. We are excited to see the results of the testwork over coming months.”

Springdale Aerial EM Survey Complete and Drilling Progressing

ASX Announcement 04 September 2019

Comet Resources Ltd (Comet or the Company) (ASX:CRL) is pleased to announce that the aerial electromagnetic survey (EM) designed to target shallow, high-grade graphite mineralisation has now been completed. Priority conductor targets in close proximity to the existing resource have been identified using the preliminary data, with final data processing and modelling underway by Southern Geoscience Consultants. The use of EM surveys has previously resulted in the discovery two high-grade zones outside the existing resource (ASX 7 May 2019) . The diamond drilling campaign is on track with four PQ holes completed and the fifth hole currently being drilled. Large-diameter PQ holes have been selected in order to provide a ready supply of sample material for a range of metallurgical testwork. The drilling campaign is designed to improve the geological understanding and confidence in the existing high-grade component of the Inferred Resource of 2.6 million tonnes at 17.5% TGC (ASX 6 Dec 2018). The program also includes an allowance for testing priority targets identified in the latest EM survey.

Highlights

  • EM complete and being used to target shallow high-grade mineralisation
  • Diamond drilling for metallurgical testwork samples progresses

Comet Resources CEO, Philippa Leggat, commented:

“Our experienced team designed the current work programs around delivering specific outcomes and we are seeing good progress towards achieving the objectives. These programs are expected to solidify and build the base of knowledge in the Project, allowing us to move towards delivering feasibility studies.”

“We expect a steady flow of results from our drilling and metallurgical testwork programs in the coming months and look forward to sharing them with the market.”
