Just a completely bizarre suggestion. Yes, there was a need in some aboriginal communities to stem the flow of money needed to feed and care for a family going to grog, leading to domestic violence and child abuse.
But there is absolutely no reason to attack the dignity of Australians as a whole, with the sole exception of veterans and age pensioners, who for whatever reason are receiving income support.

He's effectively saying to people who care for aged parents, children with disabilities, family with mental illness, or those who themselves have significant health problems, that they cannot be trusted to sensibly allocate their funds appropriately.

He's telling that mother who is frazzled beyond belief after a day of looking after a severely autistic child that she may not have a glass of wine with her evening meal when the child has finally capsized into sleep.

Or the 50 year old who has worked all his life, contributing to the taxation system, but who has become redundant and is finding it hard to get another job, that he may not have a beer after a fruitless day of job searching.

Just so insulting, Mr Forrest. Who do you think you are, indeed!
