Cameroon will construct a deepwater port on the Atlantic coast Lolabe in southwest China, to export iron from mines located in the northern town of Mbalam.

In charge of the development of this project will be the Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil and will cost 2000 $ 600 million, according to precise Cameroon Tribune newspaper today.

Mota-Engil was also awarded the contract to build a 510 km railway line intended for transfer to the port of ore mined in the fields located in Mbalam, and Nadebo Cameroon, Congo.

Both mines are operated by Australian company Sundance Resources and the same is expected to draw some 35 million tons of iron in the next 35 years

The works should be completed in 42 months and will be funded by Standard Bank, African bank with operations in 32 countries, the source adds.
