Farmboy summed it up well. Plibersek, on behalf of Labor, ably assisted by the ABC and its many commentators, are playing pure politics here. They know absolutely that Australia is simply not equipped to provide safe repatriation of an Ebola infected person from Africa.

It's the same game the Greens play all the time, no exceptions. They come out with all the emotive stuff, appealing to people who lack the capacity to think the issue through with common sense, and who respond to colourful pictures of poor Africans dying, overlaid by the vision of heroic Australian medical personnel rushing to their rescue.

Well, good luck with that in reality. Today, as Cazzex has pointed out, a New York City doctor who returned from Africa, has tested positive for Ebola. He went through the 'enhanced screening' process on entering the country, we are told. Cazzex has described just some of the public activities he engaged on before showing his positive result.

What a successful screening process the US has!!

I'm in support of Bob Katter (possibly the first time ever) with his suggestion that Australia sets up a quarantine centre where anyone incoming from W. Africa needs to spend the 21 day quarantine period before being free in the general community.

The government imo should absolutely not give official sanction to anyone going to W. Africa. If people are desperate to work there then they can as individuals sign up with Medicin Sans Frontiers or the Red Cross, taking responsibility for their own outcomes.
