WELLINGTON, Feb 26 (Reuters) - New Zealand posted a monthly trade surplus of NZ$8 million ($5.37 million) in January, data from Statistics New Zealand showed on Friday, while the annual trade deficit widened to NZ$3.57 billion.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a monthly deficit of NZ$245.5 million, and an annual deficit of NZ$3.84 billion.
Exports totalled NZ$3.9 billion for the month, from NZ$4.43 billion the previous month. Imports came in at NZ$3.89 billion versus NZ$4.48 billion the previous month.
