The links make for interesting reading. Three wave technology companies all based in Western Australia, all want pilot projects in the same state.
Bombora have named PWEP and Binningup as locations under consideration. PWEP is the home of CWE's pilot project and Binningup is where WaterCorp has it's second desalination plant. CWE has a cooperation agreement with WaterCorp.
Protean had previously nominated Geraldton as a possible site for a pilot scheme, so too has Bombora.
Western Australia seems to have more than it's share of wave energy technology companies, taking into account the population size.
No doubt each of the companies is very familiar with the technologies of the others.
It seems incongruous that all three companies would risk cannibilizing any of the others in order to succeed.
Wouldn't it make more sense that they would go about there business of developing there own technologies, in a complimentary way with a view to future collaboration?
From what I can tell, each of the technologies would occupy a different space as far as wave energy harvesting goes. The varying seasonal sea states and locations, both near shore shallow and off shore deep, would be accessible if all three joined forces.
With the addition of CWE's CETO 6, and the technologies owned by Bombora and Protean, large scale development may be possible where all three take a roll.
Just another of my thought bubbles, Happy Easter everybody.
By the way, they could not call themselves WestWave, that has already been claimed by the Irish. They could copy a few of their ideas though.
"Bombora has short listed three locations for consideration. Each location and site has numerous advantages for Bombora, State Government and other Government agencies. The locations are;

- Perth Wave Energy Precinct (PWEP) – West of Garden Island
