The Australian Marriage Act 1961 did not define what a marriage was.
The Marriage Amendment Act 2004 stated "Marriage means the union of a man and a woman to
the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life".
The talk about a "sacred ceremony" is a bit of a joke in view of the number of divorces,
co-habitation and marriages via Civil Celebrants.
In 2013 only 32,600 couples married in a church (out of 118,962 marriages).
Are they the ones against same sex marriage?
