Some further thoughts on current developments.. I do not see COLDRY being limited for use in MATMOR deployment in India, it is the perfect standalone solution to upgrading lignite to a BCE with low energy demand, no need for hydrocarbon solvent treatment, and with environmental benefits. It is the superior technology and the Kobe process inferior with more expensive liquid hydrocarbons used. India imports 90% of their oil. Coldry is going to win that competition hands down. http://www.sarkaritel.com/indias-oil-imports-to-be-90-percent-by-2020-report-193487/
What i do agree with is that the Indian Govt will fast track MATMOR. With a "Made in India" thrust which has a clear focus on new technology, Matmor has so much to offer in terms of lignite use as a reductant, and the ability to utilise millscale and tailings. They are also desperate to revive thier iron ore mining industry and are currently in the process of significantly privatising the sector: http://www.businesstoday.in/current...re-mines-to-revive-industry/story/223088.html
"India produced 136 million tonnes of iron ore last fiscal year ended March 31. About 1.5 million tonnes of ore are needed to make 1 tonne of steel, implying India's ore output will have to more than triple in 10 years if steel companies are to be self sufficient." How about reusing the millscale and tailings, and using your own indigenous lignite as reductant? No wonder they are so excited.
From http://www.ectltd.com.au/matmor/matmor-overview/
"The Process: MATMOR is a unique method for producing high-quality iron from inexpensive, abundant brown coal and iron oxide bearing material such as mill scale, nickel tailings and, of course, high or low grade iron"
